This is the complete WW1 Battles Commemorative Pistol Set. From 1967-69, Colt released four M1911 pistols commemorating the four major battles of World War 1 that the American Expeditionary Force took part in. These are the Battles of Chateau Thierry (31 May – 22 June 1918), Belleau Wood (1 – 26 June 1918), Second Battle of the Marne (15 July – 6 August 1918), and the Meuse-Argonne (26 September – 11 November 1918). These pistols feature special engraved markings and special grips with unique medallions inlaid in the wood. Some of the yellow lacquer that fills in the engraving has faded with time. Otherwise the pistols are like new and have never been fired. Each pistol comes with one magazine. All pistols have the serial number 426 followed by a 2-letter/number code indicating the battle the pistol commemorates. CT = Chateau Thierry, BW = Belleau Wood, M2 = 2nd Battle of the Marne, and MA = Meuse-Argonne. This is an important Colt Set and no Colt collection can be complete without it.
