Here is a nice little Taurus PT-22 chambered for .22 LR. This pistol is double action only (with a bobbed hammer) and sports an attractive duo-tone finish with nicely checkered wood grips. While this pistol is extremely small and handy, the pinky-rest magazine actually allows you to get an average sized hand fully around the grip with no dangling digits.

In addition, it has suprisingly nice sights for a pistol this compact! The tip-up barrel is a bit leaded up, but that should easily clear out after your first trip to the range and a couple of cleaning patches! Not only is this pistol itself affordable, but since ammo is cheap as well you can afford to shoot the heck out of it!
