This is a very nice setup for turkey or close-range varmint hunting. To make a long story short, the consigner who brought this shotgun in bought it and put the scope on it to shoot coyotes that had been hanging around the house lately. Some new neighbors moved in and the wife didn’t want him shooting it around the house, so here it is. It has never been fired. The front sight has been removed, likely to improve the field of view through the scope. It is a Leupold VX-R scope with 1.25-4 power magnification. This scope is normally used on rifles but for the intended application it would be suitable. A scope like this is frequently used out to greater ranges than what a shotgun would be used for, so inside that range it will be very useful. An extended Tukey choke has been fitted. Since this is a Super Mag, all three shell lengths, 2.75”, 3”, and 3.5” can be fired using this shotgun. Even better, since it is a pump action, reliability is equal with all three shell lengths, unlike many of the 3.5” semi-autos which usually fail to function with the 2.75” shells. The Remington 870 is one of the most popular shotguns ever made and has been used for a variety of tasks. This particular setup has an overall value of just under $1300.00, but it is available here for an affordable $895.00. Although it was intended as a Turkey gun, this could be used very successfully on varmints and even hogs at the same ranges.
