ACME North has an original Nazi 1935 pattern Luftwaffe Officer Degen (sword) with scabbard.

This early type Luftwaffe sword is in decent condition considering it’s age. The pommel has the inset gilded sun wheel swastikas as well as the guard with almost all of the gold wash remaining. The pommel outer edge is stamped with a oak leaves and acorns. The guard arms on this sword are nicely done in the standard down swept design with fine pattern of styilized feathers. The guard and lower grip ferrule are loose due to handle leather age shrinkage. Both the grip and scabbard still retain the original blue Moroccan leather. One wrap of the twisted springy aluminum wire is missing and one of the two remaining pieces is loose but easily repaired.

The scabbard shell is straight throughout. There are numerous rub and scuff marks on the original scabbard leather. There is a original blue leather covered crescent hanger still attached to the scabbard rings with the early closed box grip. Frosted aluminum scabbard fittings are retained by recessed headless screws.

The 26 inch blade has not been sharpened or shortened. The tip has not been damaged. It is marked F & A HELBIG/ STEINBACH/ GAEFLER with Luftwaffe acceptance mark, stick Eagle/ 6 waffenamt. There is some age patina on both sides of the double edge blade. The original pebbled blue blade buffer is still in place.

This sword represents a chance to own a seldom encountered military relic fresh out of the wood work.
