This Colt Official Police, 6 shot revolver is chambered in .38 special. 

This revolver has a 4 inch barrel and is built like a tank! The lockup and timing are tight and solid. This gun would make a great home defense gun or range pistol ot collectible piece. This gun came from an estate and may have been a former police gun. The grips are "Coltwood" which was a post-WW2 cost saving measure used by Colt to replace the standard wood grips. This revolver is post WW2 but pre-1954, as Colt went back to wooden grips in 1954. Colt stopped production of these revolvers entirely in 1969. Around 400,000 of these revolvers were made and they were issued to the NYPD, LAPD, Chicago PD and the FBI. This model revolver was one of the most successful revolvers of all time and when you feel it, you will understand why. This handgun is C&R eligible.
