I recently bought this gun from an estate of many rare firearms. Remington model 720 civilian Springfield 30 cal. 1906 bolt rifle 24" barrel. There are no military cartouches on the stock, receiver or barrel. Only 2,500 of these guns were ever made. 1000-1500 were purchased by the military. Only 1000-1500 civilian/ commercial models. I've read differing stats on how many went to the military vs commercially sold. 13 1/2" length of pull. The blueing on barrel and receiver is excellent. 24" barrel. Everything is original. Barrel marked "24" near receiver, also stamped "RFP" with a circular outline around it.
The barrel is also stamped "A LP" with some hallmarks or cartouches in front of the "A". (All shown in pics). The bore is bright and shiny with no rust or pitting and crisp rifling. Matching numbers on the bolt, receiver, rear stock under buttplate, and inside the front area of the stock in the barrel bed. (shown in pics) Wood stock is in great condition with no cracks or chips. There are some darker specks on the left side near butt plate. Some scratches on the right side of the front of the stock. Checkering still looks great with only a few diamonds missing. The metal butt plate has the Remington brand logo on it. It comes with a period correct leather strap that was on the rifle when I purchased it from the estate. The leather strap is stamped "12 BRAUER BROS. MFG. Co. ST. LOUIS".
