Ruger AR-556 5.56 NATO AR-15 Rifle with M-Lok Free-Float Handguard
The Ruger 8529 is the newest AR-15 and the newest version of the fantastic AR-556 Rifle from Ruger. This version of the first-class AR-556 rifle features an 11" Aluminum handguard that is free-floating for superior accuracy, and it also features Magpul M-Lok accessory attachment slots along the 3, 6 and 9-O'clock positions with additional slots on the angled faces near the muzzle. Embracing the M-Lok modularity means that this gun can easily support attaching lights, lasers, bipods, sights, foregrips and any other Magpul M-Lok accessory.
The Ruger AR-556 AR-15 has a flattop upper receiver that features a Picatinny rail for easy attachment of magnified optics, red-dot sights or open sights. The upper is machined from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum forging and includes a forward assist, dust cover and brass deflector.
The stock is a six-position, telescoping, M4-style buttstock with a matching Mil-Spec buffer tube that allows the Ruger AR-556 rifle to be properly sized for different shooters or varying levels of outerwear.
The bolt of the Ruger AR-556 is machined from 9310 alloy steel and is shot-peened and pressure (proof) tested to ensure strength, structural integrity and durability.
This version of the AR-556 AR-15 sports a heavy-contour, cold hammer-forged barrel with ultra-precise rifling to provide exceptional accuracy, longevity and easy cleaning. The 1:8" twist rate stabilizes bullets from 35 to 77 grains, and the 5.56 NATO chamber allows the use of both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition. M4 feed ramps provide improved reliability, and the matte black oxide finish reduces glare and provides corrosion resistance.
The Ruger ergonomic pistol grip features an extended trigger reach for more precise trigger control.
The AR-556's carrier and gas key have chrome-plated inside diameters to provide exceptional resistance to hot gases. The gas key is properly staked so that it will not loosen after any amount of firing. Additionally, a matte black oxide finish on the exterior of the bolt carrier provides corrosion resistance.
The single-stage trigger of the Ruger AR-556 provides a durable and reliable fire control group and the enlarged trigger guard is designed to allow gloved shooting.
