Serial# 5004
Second Year Production
This is a very early gun built in 1954, the first year of commercial production. Introduced in 1953 but only 50 units were built that year. This revolver shows the 5 1/2" barrel, round front site, the square rod thumbpiece, steel ejector housing, thin trigger, flat loading gate and the correct blue finish. The grips have the early brushed medallions. It has turned a gorgeous reddish copper color as some of the early ones did. This correct first variation shows a bright excellent bore and 95+% original finish. Mounted with the correct hard rubber original grips and all the correct markings. This Ruger is a tough example for the Ruger collector to find. Sources indicate that there were approx 10,000 revolvers built in 1954. A scarce collector grade Ruger. It does not come with the box or paper work.
