Desert Tech SRS-A2 Covert "Stealth Recon Scout" Rifle Kit
Desert Tech SRS A2 Covert Chassis
The Desert Tech SRS "Stealth Recon Scout" A2 Chassis is new for 2019 and available in right hand configurations only. The new A2 chassis system features the same ergonomic bullpup design as the A1 but with features designed to make the SRS A2 chassis system more accurate, lightweight, and reliable. The SRS A2 chassis will be available in the more compact SRS A2 Covert model as well for additional maneuverability and weight reduction.
Accuracy & Stability Upgrades
The SRS A2 Chassis will feature Desert Tech’s new A2 trigger designed to make the trigger system less complex while providing a trigger pull that has less creep, a shorter reset, and a crisper break. The A2 trigger can be adjusted from 1.5 to 7 lbs. and has a flat contour for improved ergonomics. Desert Tech also upgraded the barrel clamping system in the A2 chassis, the new system reduces stress placed on the barrel when installed. During testing by Desert Tech it was found that the new system’s average accuracy was 36% better than the A1 system. The A2 chassis also now features an integral tripod attachment point and a Harris bipod mount for increased stability.
Weight Reduction & Functionality Upgrades
One of Desert Tech’s goals when developing the SRS A2 Chassis was to reduce the overall weight of the rifle, making it a more maneuverable and effective combat weapon. Desert Tech was able to cut a good deal of weight from the chassis by fluting the receiver and removing the monopod. The new system substitutes the Picatinny rail handguard for more a lightweight m-lock handguard. The receiver in the A2 chassis features additional clearance allowing for smoother bolt manipulation.
Desert Tech SRS A2 Covert Conversion Kits
The Desert Tech SRS A2 Conversion Kits are new for 2019 and can be broken down into 4 components: the barrel, bolt, bolt stop, and magazine. Most of the upgrades from the Desert Tech SRS A1 to the SRS A2 conversion kits can be found on the barrel. The SRS A2 and SRS A2 Covert barrels have increased fluting length both forward and rear for weight reduction. Desert Tech has also fluted the clamping section of the barrel for addition weight savings. SRS A2 barrels all now have a standardized thread pitch of 5/8x24 allowing for the use of the same muzzle brake across multiple calibers. The muzzle break that comes standard with .338 Lapua Mag SRS A2 Conversion Kits has been redesigned to better mitigate recoil in order to compensate for the weight reduction of the SRS A2 models.
