This original S. North Army contract flintlock pistol 52 cal smooth bore has a 10” tapered round barrel. Only 20,400 were made at the Harpers Ferry Armory starting in July 1819. The stamping on the barrel is JD/P/US is the proof mark that John D. Johnson tested this barrel. The barrel and the bore are in good condition with the exception of minor sporadic pitting throughout. The Walnut stock is in good condition with a minor unrepaired crack in the stock on the left side just in front of the upper lock screw. There is a cartouche barely visible on the left side by the lock bolt which looks to be LS (Luther Sage). Mounted to the stock is all iron furniture and a captured swivel iron ramrod. The lock with a safety selector is activated by a single pinned trigger. It is stamped S. NORTH above the U and S on either side of a spread eagle with MIDDLTN CONN on the bottom. Condition: Good over-all. The length is 15-1/2”, the weight is 2.7 lbs.
