Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a hooded (NOT INCLUDED), serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a folding "U"-notch with a white triangle aiming reference, dovetailed to a boss at the rear of the barrel. The notch is fine-adjustable for elevation & windage. The top of the receiver is drilled and tappedwith optic mount, NO optics included.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece checkered Mapel with Winchester" W" logo on the checkered pistol grip, checkered black plastic buttplate, and sling swivels front and rear with a leather sling . There are some scattered compressions and draglines. There are a few little marks through the finish. There are a couple of scrapes, most notable on the right side of the buttstock. There are a few little spots of finish loss. The LOP measures 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has some nicks and scratches. The stock rates in Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In my opinion, this bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The bolt is jewled & serial matching. There are a couple of small spots of oxidation. The action shows minor operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is an iconic American sporting rifle that has been a staple of hunters for more than 80 years; reliable, robust, and accurate, it is one of the benchmarks by which all bolt action rifles are measured. It has more than earned its nickname of "The Riflemans Rifle" and is one of the most iconic rifles around. This is a vintage 1966 Winchester Model 70 rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield that was made with Pre 1964 parts. It is a Standard Rifle configuration with a monte-carlo stock. The .30-06 Springfield cartridge is a classic American round which is suitable for just about any game in North America and has a wild variety of loadings available, frin 150 to 220 grain. Not only can it take just about any game in the U.S., it can also be found just about anywhere in the U.S. The rifle is in Excellent condition, retaining 98% of its blued finish. The bore is sweet and the mechanics are strong. This is a classic hunting rifle in a classic caliber, a match made in heaven. With a nice scope installed with see thru mounts, this rifle could be back out in the field dropping bucks for another lifetime.
