Unknown – Antique –16 Gauge – Underlever – Hammer Double – Stk# C562
This original 16 Ga Double Hammer barrel Shotgun was made in1891 with 30” Damascus tapered round barrels with a brass bead front sight mounted to the matte rib. Only information on this shotgun is the German crown over a V stamped on top of the barrels, with AL stamped under the barrels and the serial number stamped to the bottom of the butt plate. Both barrels have lost most of their finish and have minor scattered pitting. The bores are fair to good condition with pitting near the breech on both barrels. The hand checkered P++ grade Walnut buttstock with leather cheek rest and forend are very good with some usage dents and scratches. The underlever and back part of the trigger guard are carved from horn. The very tastefully engraved back action locks with Sterling Silver animal inlays on both plates and engraved action which locks up tight; with smooth operation activated by a single set trigger for the right barrel and a normal trigger for the left barrel. There is a set of sling swivels studs mounted to the barrel and butt stock. The rear sling swivel stud is an aftermarket replacement. This shotgun is overall in good to very good condition. The length of pull is 12-3/4” left trigger and 13-3/4” right trigger. Overall length is 46-1/2”, weight is 6.2 lbs.
