S&W .38 Chiefs Special Airweight Revolver Aluminum Cylinder Rare 1953 C&R
Rare antique S&W .38 Chiefs Special Airweight with Aluminum Cylinder. According to History of smith & Wesson by Roy Jinks, this model with the aluminum alloy cylinder was first introduced in September of 1952 and not made in a square butt until March of 1953. January of 1954 S&W stopped producing the aluminum cylinder with only 3,777 units total produced. There are mathcing serial numbers on the frame, cylinder, barrel, and grips. The numbers on the frame and cylinder crane as well.

This firearm is in great conditon for its age with just some holster wear on the edges. No box or manual included. It will not shoot modern high pressure ammunition and we recomment having it inspected by a qualified gunsmith BEFORE firing especially with the aluminum cylinder.
