The COLT MARSHAL rare variant of Official Police revolver was produced with a round butt and was offered from 1954 to 1956. Only 2,500 revolvers in this variation were. This is a very rare Colt Marshal 2” in good condition with a nice bore. The Marshal is distinguished by the round butt, unlike the Official Police which had a square butt. No more than about 500 of the 2,500 Marshals came with a 2” barrel, the rest being 4” guns. The pistol functions excellently, though its appearance shows wear. The bluing is worn in some areas, completely missing in others, and some patina/surface rust has started. Complete stripping of the bluing is rare and usually occurs if blood is not cleaned off a blued surface, which is common with military and hunting long guns. Undoubtedly, this revolver must have had a very interesting past. The next owner could decide to restore it to its original mint condition or leave it as it is and shoot it. One thing is for sure, Colt is said to have only made 500 of these around years ago how many could be left now?
