This Springfield 1866 .50-70 trapdoor has a 32-5/8” tapered round barrel that has a fixed front sight and an Original ladder rear sight. The bore is dark, with only faint rifling remaining and pitting throughout. The P grade walnut stock has a rich, age-darkened appearance with some scattered usage marks. Metal components have developed mottled brown patina, consisting of standard iron mounts including barrel bands with staking swivel. The breech block is stamped with the standard “U.S. MODEL 1866" over crossed arrows, an eagle head, and "US" markings. The lock plate bears the spread eagle and "U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1865". This rifle is missing the metal ramrod. Length of pull is 13-1/4”, Overall 48”, weight: 7.08 lbs. Condition: Fair. Manufactured by Springfield Armory.
