Colt Model 1892 US Army DA Revolver This is a VERY VERY rare example of the Colt Model 1892 Double Action Revolver from the US Army's 1st Contract. Today, there are quite literally just a handful of surviving Model 1892 US Army Revolvers . LOW SERIAL #330 stamped on crane,latch and inside side cover with a B stamped above number on crane , WITH 6 INCH BARREL,there is a clear "RAC" (Rinaldo A. Carr 1889-1909) inspector stamp on rear face of the cylinder. The latch and crane have "K" sub-inspector initials letters "LFB" stamped left side of frame near grips,Left side of barrel stamped COLT D.A. 38. Standard 6" barrel with walnut grips and blued finish. Caliber .38 Colt. Low serial number is 330 range which is stamped on the cylinder yoke, latch, sideplate. Unfortunately, the model and US Army markings were removed from the butt...which is not uncommon. However, we were able to read the serial number and the good news is that the 1892's from the first contract had assembly numbers that are one and the same as the serial numbers Good to Fair overall condition with good Brown patina with faint traces of original finish in protected areas. As with all ANTIQUE firearms have a competent gunsmith check gun before shooting. Colt Archives letter states "Serial Number 330 - .38/c, 6â€, Blue finish, Wood stocks, Sold to the United States Government, Shipped to Col. A. Mordecai, Springfield Armory, Springfield, MA on October 27, 1892, 500 guns in shipment"
